ToeJam and Earl: Back in the Groove has the funkiest OST since Interstate 76
Scheduled to be released during this year (hopefully Q3 2018) on PC/Linux/macOS, Switch, Xbox One, and PS4, ToeJam and Earl: Back in the Groove, remake of the first ToeJam & Earl on Megadrive in 1991, is already starting to show off some of the grooviest tunes you've ever heard!
If you're a true audiophile(we are!) and want to get the best quality, you really want to get the - slightly expensive($44.95!) - 2xLP vinyl set from the "funkontronshop".
On a side note, we got the ENTIRE collection of albums(except the latest After Burner II) from "Data Discs", the best company if you want old-school games osts masterfully remastered on vinyls.
I have to say though, I much preferred the second game, ToeJam & Earl in Panic on Funkotron, which played like a regular platformer, and also had a great OST, which hasn't aged at all, if you ask me.
One of the most underrated platformers on the Megadrive, and perfect tracks to relacks!
Alas, the remake doesn't look too good.
The overly cartoonish style is kinda ugly and looks cheap.
As usual in such remakes, it's always very risky to lose the pixel art crispness and overall strong character of old classics.
A lot of people who intend to buy this game will be hardcore nostalgic fans and I bet many will be disappointed.
It's still reassuring to know that the game is developed by HumaNature Studios, the company founded by the original game creator, Greg Johnson.
What do you think?😓
Oh, I almost forgot... I did mention Interstate 76 in the title.
Here you go, enjoy this magnificent piece of funky goodness from 1997, because it doesn't get better than this if you like this genre of music.(except Herbie Hancock instrumental funk albums from the 70s, like "Head Hunters"!😍) =>
