Preview - PC Building Simulator taught me how to change a motherboard

PC building simulator - geforce GPU
PC Building Simulator is the kind of game you always wanted without knowing it.
A bit like Euro Truck Simulator. You think it's going to be one of these boring simulators , then you get addicted and you even want to start working for real as a computer repair technician. If only it paid as much in real life as it does in this game.

Note!
the game is still early access, and we tested version 0.7.5, which already has a good amount of content and was stable during the whole test.

I remember trying the first early and FREE version of this game more than a year ago...
The game sure has improved a LOT since last time I saw it!
Actually, in case you're interested, you can still download the original free release there:

the original FREE version of PC building simulator
They really improved the game drastically since the very first release.

There was just one computer in a little empty and cold room, and all you could do was replace a few parts without any purpose and the game was over in a few minutes.
In the latest release though, after playing during hours, we still haven't seen all of the different computers and available parts! 😲

The online store in PC Building Simulator
Let's choose the most expensive parts... Mwa ha ha! Just kidding! Unless I'm wrong, it seems that your pay will be the same anyway, so there's no point...

The game has a pretty well done UI and we never felt the need to look for help online or anything like that, it's pretty straight-forward. At least until you start getting complicated demands though, but we'll get to that later. 😁

Workshop in PC building simulator
Your cozy den. Too bad about the unsettling chimp posters though. 🤣

Basically, you're working in your cool little workshop, which looks like more like a private apartment to me though, and you have to check your emails daily to accept jobs, which usually consist in cleaning viruses, dusting computer, or more often, replacing damaged parts.

Check your inbox to get new jobs every day!
The first jobs are very easy. Just run your antivirus from your USB drive and clean your customer's PC!

Note!
is this taking place in USA? Is this normal there to be paid $100 just to clean a PC? Noice.🤠 I would say the average price for this kind of job in many European countries wouldn't go higher than $20... Which might be why I don't do it. (At least I'm reading on Steam that the parts themselves are "realistically priced"...)

As of v0.7.5, There are still a few bugs in PC building simulator.
Like I said, the game is still unfinished. Despite not having removed the side panel, the hard drive "ejected" like it wasn't there...
Without exaggerating, I'd argue that this game DOES teach you quite a bit about the computer repair business, and how to fix computers in general.

The #1 important thing here is that the developer partnered with REAL computer hardware manufacturers, so most of the things you do in this game can apply in real life.
Parts are modeled realistically, and you have to be careful about compatibility, cables, etc. (of course, the softwares you use are completely made up though)
I'm not an expert about this but I didn't see much missing.
Replacing a motherboard is one of the most difficult tasks.
Oh god... Replacing a motherboard? That's the only thing I've never done...

On the other hand, the game MIGHT be a bit too "dumbed-down" and hold your hand too much.
For example, it'll always show the screws or cables you missed.
Also, I might be wrong, but it seems we can't fry some parts or just mess up the computers real bad in general by doing some big mistakes.
I really tried hard to fail though, but... I failed at failing. How much of a loser I am?😂

The game holds your hand so much that even somebody who isn't tech-savvy will be able to accomplish most tasks.
Yes! I replaced a motherboard without causing a massive fire in the whole building!😋👍

TIP!
Do you want to rip off your customers? Easy! Just replace their expensive computer parts with cheap ones and sell them! They won't notice!
I'm not sure if the developer will do something about this or not, but I sure hope not cos it's funny!😅

Remember "Hardware Engineers"?
It was a game I had VERY high hopes for a long time ago, but unfortunately, despite the weekly updates (the developer is VERY dedicated to make it succeed), it failed to deliver the experience I was looking forward to.
(Maybe I'm just too excited and impatient. After all, I LOVE such games and I deeply respect these developers. But development just doesn't seem to go in the right direction...)

Picture of Hardware Engineers, best alternative to PC building simulator.
Hardware Engineers is PC Building Simulator greatest alternative but so far, it failed to deliver.
PC building simulator, on the other hand, while offering LESS than Hardware Engineers (at least at the moment, but it might change), offers a much more pleasant and convincing experience which puts you in the shoes of a realistic pc repair technician.

Most computers you'll receive will be dirty so use your blower!
At this point, I tried hard to blow on my screen.

Well! I'll stop there cos it's starting to look like a real review now, but there would be many things to say about this great educational game! 🤗👍
We already love it the way it is, but we can already tell you that when we review it for real, the overall rating will definitely be very positive!
Can't wait to see what new features the developer will add!

EARLY ACCESS RATING: VERY POSITIVE
