Neverwinter Nights gets enhanced treatment
Neverwinter Nights, one of the most respected turn-based RPGs since its release in 2002, is re-released on Steam as an "enhanced edition", featuring HD resolutions, some shaders and questionable post processing effects, and maybe more useful, better modding support, although it seemed to work almost perfectly before anyway.
All previously released DLCS are also included.
It's still one of the most modded games of all time and you can download countless modules, adding various quests and adventures or total conversions.
The modding community has always been more or less active, but I can bet that this re-release is going to awake them quite a bit.😋
(Note: no worries, all previously made mods are compatible with this "new" version!)
As usual, the 3D models have aged extremely badly and the enhanced treatment won't do miracles there. As for the shaders and effects, you wonder where they are.
The lighting is as flat as in 2002.
Baldur's Gate, even before the HD treatment, was still looking good 15 years after its release. One of the reasons I always preferred 2D overall.
The re-release already raises some questions and some users complain about the $20 price for a game which adds a few enhancements which already exist as free mods.
Then again, who am I to judge, since I bought Heroes of Might and Magic III - HD edition the first day it got released?😁 (you can get the original here.😁)

This is how sunny summer days looked in 2002. It's like every game was taking place in England or something.😏 |
